Bach Festival Dinner

The 71st Carmel Bach Festival held the first of three Mission dinners at Crespi Hall in Carmel. The dinners raise money to support the Mission Concert series at the Carmel Mission Basilica.The dinner was sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank and guests enjoyed wine by Carmel Road Winery and a three-course dinner presented by the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa.

Jazz Legends Gala at Tehama

Gerald Wilson, legendary bandleader, composer, and trumpeter, was honored at the Monterey Jazz Festival’s second annual Jazz Legends Gala at Tehama Golf Club. Guests included mayors of Monterey and Seaside, Chuck Della Sala and Ralph Rubio, and f ilm icon Clint Eastwood. Nearly $12,000 was raised for jazz education programs.

Carmel River School Spring Fling

The Carmel River School Spring Fling, hosted by Dina Eastwood at the Mission Ranch, raised more than $35,000 to fund art programs, field trips, school assemblies, and purchase needed classroom materials. Guests dressed for a Cinco de Mayo theme and enjoyed a silent and live auction and a specially created River School margarita.

Monterey Symphony Derby Day

More than 225 Friends of the Monterey Symphony gathered, many in beautiful hats, to celebrate Derby Day and the 134th Run for the Roses on the lawn of Stonepine in Carmel Valley. Proceeds of $50,000 benefit the music and education programs of the Monterey Symphony.

Monterey Peninsula C of C Sustainable Showcase

The Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and presenting sponsor Carmel Building and Design hosted their first annual Monterey Sustainable Business Showcase at the Monterey Conference Center.The event featured green local businesses, films and sessions on subjects ranging from green building to geotourism.

E.A.R.S. Fundraiser for the Elephants

The annual fundraiser for E.A.R.S. in Salinas went to a new level this year thanks to the Hyatt Regency Monterey and Executive Chef Mark Ayers. The evening was made extra special by the animals from Wild Things and elephants that greeted guests as they entered the tented affair. The event raised funds to support the sanctuary’s four African elephants.
