Jazz Festival Dinner

The 9th Annual Golf 'n Jazz Tournament was held this year at Pasadera Country Club to benefit youth jazz education programs for the Monterey Jazz Festival. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a silent and live auction, dinner and performances by jazz vocalist Mary Stallings. Special guests included a group of jazz festival organizers from Japan, several sponsors, and Clint and Dina Eastwood.

Starry Night Dinner

The Special Kids Crusade Starry Night Dinner was held at the Hyatt Regency. Guests were treated to a three-course dinner and a silent and live auction. Jay Galle of KSBW emceed, Pete DeVries was auctioneer, and local singer Laura Dare performed with special guest Roger Eddy. Proceeds benefited the nonprofit founded by parents of children with developmental disabilities.

Tomato Fest Dinner

The 16th annual NatureSweet Carmel Tomato Fest dinner and dance was held this year at Quail Lodge. “Hot Tomato Night”was held in honor of sponsors including: NatureSweet, Sunset Magazine, the Morning Star Company, Brown-Forman Wines, Mercedes Benz of Monterey, Pebble Beach Resorts, and Quail Lodge.

Sunset at Monterra

Sunset Magazine held a ribbon cutting at Monterra to unveil its 2008 Sunset Magazine "Idea House," which will feature green building practices and innovations. Sunset and Monterra assembled a team to design and build the house: Thomas Bateman Home Architecture, RCA Enterprises, Bernard Trainor and Associates Landscape Architecture, and Joseph Hittinger Interior Design of Menlo Park.

Faces of Hope / Rising Int'l

Dina Eastwood hosted this year's first Faces of Hope event at Tehama Golf Club to benefit Rising International, the first organization in the world to use the direct sales business model to end world poverty. The event featured former United Nations Under Secretary General Olara Otunnu as the keynote speaker, Faces of Hope Ambassadors (20 extraordinary women from around the world), and a live auction of "once in a lifetime experiences."

Concours / Bottega Veneta

More than 130 vehicles were on display down Ocean Avenue to showcase Post World War II American and foreign vehicles for the first annual Carmel by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue. To kick off the event, a private reception was held at the Carmel Plaza. Bottega Veneta held an invitation-only grand opening reception at their Carmel Plaza location and donated a portion of the evening's proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club of Monterey County.

Lexus & Vogue

Lexus and Vogue presented the "Lexus Fashion Preview" show during the week of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The event unveiled creations from the next generation of young American design talent and the collections from finalists of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America / Vogue Fashion Fund Initiative. A cocktail reception followed where guests viewed the Pebble Beach Lexus Edition automobile.

Tiffany & Co.

Monterra held a private event with premier jeweler Tiffany & Co. to showcase an extraordinary collection of jewelry called "Tiffany's American Gemstone collection." Guests got the chance to preview the latest in high-end designs, which included cocktail rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings, all using the finest quality gemstones.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monterey County held
their annual fundraising event to benefit the nonprofit,
which offers the only one-to-one mentoring
program to aid at-risk youth. The event was held
at Tehama Golf Club and was sponsored by Fresh
Express and Tiffany & Co. More than 250 guests
gathered to bid on silent and live auction items.
