The Carmel Youth Center celebrated its 60th anniversary with a fundraiser at the Sunset Center featuring music by Overtone, the South African band discovered by Dina Eastwood. A VIP reception offered food and wine from some of Monterey County's best chefs and vintners and $30,000 was raised to benefit local youth.
Mark Mancina's band (plus a surprise appearance by Nancy Wilson, from Heart) provided a great night of Beatles music at Tehama Golf Club at a benefit for The First Tee of Monterey County. The evening included a three-course dinner accompanied by local wines then the concert. The event was sponsored by Big Z's Champions Circle Club in honor of junior golf advocate John Zoller.
On September 11th, the Monterey Area Chapters of the American Institute of Wine and Food (AIWF) and American Red Cross joined together for "An Evening to Remember" at the Beach Club in Pebble Beach to honor freedom in America. Guests enjoyed a memorable dinner prepared by five renowned chefs and ceremonies performed by the Travis AFB Honor Guard. The money raised will help the two organizations to carry out their missions.
The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance hosted a reception for major donors, charitable partners and international guests during Car Week at Casa Palmero in Pebble Beach. The 2010 Concours raised more than $1 million for charity for the fifth year in a row.
VIP status at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion included a very special Rolex reception and dinner at Bernardus Lodge. Notables from the historic motorsports world gathered for cocktails on the terrace before sitting down to an elegant meal and presentation celebrating the accomplishments of Duncan Dayton and Alex Gurney.
The Monterey Jazz Festival honored legendary pianist and philanthropist GeorgeWein at its 2010 Jazz Legends Gala hosted by Clint and Dina Eastwood at Mission Ranch with a magnificent performance by four-time Grammy-winning vocalist and 2010 MJF Artist-In-Residence, Dianne Reeves. Proceeds raised from the gala support MJF's Jazz Education Programs.
The 22nd annual Taste of Carmel, a showcase of Carmel businesses and benefit for the Carmel Chamber of Commerce, was held in the courtyard of the Carmel Mission. Event chairs were Baird Pittman and Janine Potter. Fifty restaurants, wineries, chocolatiers, coffee houses and a microbrewery provided the fare.
Chaos and Creativity was the theme of this year's Carmel Art & Film Festival, and LA artist Mr. Brainwash was its poster child. Opening night included the Clint Eastwood Filmmaker Award presented by Dina and Clint, music by Overtone, two films and a palpable energy level that lasted the five days of the event.
