Meals on Wheels Culinary Classique D'Elegance

With renowned chef Bert Cutino at the helm, the 11th Annual Culinary Classique D'Elegance, benefitting Meals on Wheels, was held at Spanish Bay. The event featured 22 chefs presenting creative menus to guests at uniquely designed tables. The event generated more than $135,000 to support the agency that delivers hot meals to the elderly.

Carmel Chamber Green Ribbon Awards

More than 200 members and guests joined together for the 10th Annual Green Ribbon of Excellence Awards Dinner for the Carmel Chamber of Commerce. The event, held at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, honred several businesses that excel in providing quality service/products in the respective industry type, and those who demonstrated a high level of business ethics.

National Philanthropy Day

More than four hundred guests attended the National Philanthropy Day helpd at the Inn at Spanish Bay. The event was put on by CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Executive Director, Siobhan Greene, representing AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) and Shirley Coly, representing DEN (Development Executives Network). Local community leaders were recognized for their philanthropic efforts.

Monterey County Sheriff's Advisory Council

The Monterey County Sheriff's Advisory Council (SAC), hosted by Sheriff Mike Kanalakis, SAC President Charles Chrietzberg, and event Chairman David Bernahl, held its annual Cyrstal Badge Dinner at Hyatt Monterey to raise funds for the new helicopter program. Members of the Crystal Badge were honored for their donations to the program that provides funding for equipment and training.

Kinship Center Harvest Moon Festival

Kinship Center's first Harvest Moon Festival was held at their headquarters in Salinas. More than 200 guests enjoyed live music, a strolling magician, a live auction, and some of the County's finest food and wine. The event generated more than $64,000 with all proceeds aiding the nonprofit that gives children with backgrounds of abuse and abandonment a second chance at life, by connecting them to safe homes.

Make-a-Wish Foundation

The annual Make-a-Wish Foundation gala held at Tehama Golf Club was a huge success, generating more than $540,000. The sold-out event's theme was "Putting on the Ritz," and included exquisite culinary fare, along with a private performance by Tony Bennett. Another special guest, wish child Christopher, touched the hearts of everyone as he talked about his wish to fly in the cockpit of an airplane on a cross-country flight.

Pebble Beach Food and Wine

On October 29th, Pebble Beach Food & Wine co-founders Robert Weakley and David Bernahl hosted a lavish kickoff party. The dinner was held at the Napa residence of Robert and Margrit Mondavi. World renowned chef, Thomas Keller, from the French Laundry in Napa and Per Se in New York, created a decadent six-course dinner for the 30 guests including representatives from Pebble Beach, Lexus, and American Express Publishing. The Mondavi family announced their new wine, Continuum, which will be released at the inaugural Pebble Beach Food and Wine, March 27-30, 2008.
