Carmel Foundation Benefit

Chef Kurt Grasing of Carmel Chop House and The Carmel Foundation hosted an exceptional gourmet dinner paired with fine wines from local vintners to benefit the rebuilding of Trevvett Court, a low-income housing complex for area seniors. The event raised nearly $10,000 for the $3.5 million campaign.

Celebration of Life Fashion Show

The American Cancer Society's 16th annual Celebration of Life fashion show at the Monterey Hyatt raised more than $100,000. Valerie Ramsey, a cancer survivor, was mistress of ceremonies. Sandy Kahn, who created the CancerWellness program at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, was the event honoree.

MCBC's 14th Annual Gala

The Monterey County Business Council's 14th Annual Gala and Economic Vitality Awards was held at the Inn at Spanish Bay. MCBC honored individuals for their contributions to the economic vitality of Monterey County.The awards were given for public service, education, agriculture, tourism, health, building, marine sciences and the arts.

Monterey County Film Commission Gala

The Monterey County Film Commission extended its annual fundraising gala to also benefit the American Red Cross. "I Dream of Jeannie" star Barbara Eden mixed with guests at the Inn at Spanish Bay.The telecast of the Academy Awards was complemented by Cima Collina wines, dinner and a silent auction.

Central Coast HIV/AIDS Services Benefit

Guests gathered at the Monterey Hyatt to boogie the night away to the sounds of The Money Band and raise money for vital HIV/AIDS services. Complete with a mirror ball, lava lounge, and the CCHAS Village People performing their rendition of "YMCA," the disco inferno was out of sight.

CASA's Lighting the Way Gala

CASA of Monterey County celebrated its 13th anniversary with a gala fundraiser that raised more than $240,000.The Hyatt Regency Monterey turned into a Cotton Club with a speakeasy and the dynamic sounds of Dennis Murphy and his 17- piece big band. Dinner was presented by Executive Chef Mark Ayers.

MPCC Birthday and Awards

The Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 102nd birthday in style at its annual awards dinner at the Hyatt Regency Monterey. Awards for outstanding service to the community were presented to Woody Kelly, David Armanasco, Dr. Jim Tunney and Laura Davis.

Rancho Cielo Culinary Round-Up

More than 500 guests sampled exquisite tastes from Monterey County's top chefs and wineries at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa. $140,000 was raised for the Drummond Culinary Academy at Rancho Cielo, for at-risk youth to gain vocational training in preparation for jobs in Monterey County's hospitality industry.

Third Annual Pebble Beach Food and Wine

Four days of gourmet food and wine events brought attendees throughout the Pebble Beach Resort for the Third Annual Pebble Beach Food and Wine, presented by American Express Publishing and Lexus. The Lexus Grand Tasting had more than 200 wineries and 25 celebrity chefs each day. The event raised funds for Boys and Girls Clubs, CASA and Monterey Educational Wine Foundation.
